Rod Valves

Rod valves are specialized flow control systems used to stop, direct, or regulate the flow of granular, powder, and bulk materials. They are widely used in industries such as cement, mining, chemicals, food, plastics, energy, and agriculture. With their durable structure, high sealing capability, and long-lasting use, they enhance efficiency in industrial production processes.

These valves are particularly used in silo outlets, feeding lines, conveyor exits, and pneumatic conveying systems. They provide a flexible and reliable flow control solution with manual or automated operation options.

Operating Principle:

  1. When in the closed position, material flow is completely stopped.
  2. When opened, material flows freely through the system.
  3. The valve can be adjusted incrementally to allow precise flow control.

This system can be controlled manually, pneumatically, or electrically and can be integrated into remote automation systems.

Advantages:

  • Precise flow control: The flow rate can be adjusted to the required level.
  • Durable and long-lasting design: Manufactured with special coatings to resist abrasive materials.
  • High sealing performance: Prevents leakage of dust, granules, or liquid materials, ensuring a clean working environment.
  • Manual or automated operation: Available in manual, pneumatic, or electric motor-driven systems.
  • Low maintenance requirements: Minimal moving parts ensure long-term, trouble-free operation.
  • Easy installation and operation: Can be easily integrated into silo outlets, feeding lines, or pneumatic conveying systems.
  • High temperature and pressure resistance: Special models available withstanding up to 500°C.

Applications:

Rod valves are used in various industrial processes requiring flow control and material redirection:

  • Cement and mining: Ensures controlled flow of abrasive materials like cement, gypsum, lime, coal, and minerals.
  • Food and agriculture: Facilitates the feeding of flour, grains, sugar, coffee, starch, and animal feed into production lines.
  • Chemical and plastics: Provides reliable flow control for chemical powders, pigments, and plastic granules.
  • Energy and biomass: Used for transporting solid fuels, biomass, and ash.
  • Recycling and waste management: Helps direct plastic, metal powder, and other recyclable materials.

Types of Plug Valves:

  • Manual rod valve: Simple and cost-effective, operated manually.
  • Pneumatic rod valve: Automatically controlled by air pressure for fast opening and closing.
  • Electric rod valve: Can be integrated with automation systems for remote operation.
  • Abrasion-resistant plug valve: Specially designed for use in mining and cement industries with abrasive materials.
  • Hygienic rod valve: Manufactured from stainless steel for food and pharmaceutical applications.

Key Factors for Selection:

  • Material type: Suitable models should be chosen for granules, powders, liquids, or abrasive substances.
  • Connection points: The number and location of entry and exit points must be considered.
  • Operating pressure and temperature: The material should withstand the working environment’s temperature and pressure levels.
  • Actuator selection: Available in manual, pneumatic, or electric models based on operational needs.
  • Connection type: Flanged, threaded, or welded connections should align with the facility’s infrastructure.
  • Sealing performance: High-sealing models with gaskets should be selected to prevent air, dust, or material leaks.
